Sorry to be blunt, but we have a patch tracking system, which ensures
we never lose track of patches. So sending a "ping" is not necessary,
as long as your patch is still in:

You know it is not forgotten.

However, this patch queue currently has 350-400 patches, so if you want
your patch to be merged faster, you can help by reviewing patches from
other contributors!
