Unless you want to explicitely ask somebody on the list (who doesn't
have a mantis account; add the mantis account to the "nosy" list instead
in this case) to verify a patch then mantis is the proper thing to use
to reply to an issue.

If you want to discuss issues on the list, then please just refer to the
issue number (stripping the ugly rest) and discuss here but please add a
reference to the discussion to the bug in mantis if you close it or update
it.
